What does a wheel bearing actually do?
A wheel bearing is a set steel balls (ball bearings) in a metal ring commonly called a "race". It helps the wheels to spin with minimum friction. If the bearings seal is damaged this can cause the bearing to start making a noise much like when you drive on the rumble strip of a motorway. This noise will get loader over time. Over the course of time your wheel bearing will begin to wear out. As this starts to happen the noise level will also increase especially while cornering. When cornering to the left this suggests there maybe a fault on the right hand side.
Replacing your Toyota Starlet Wheel Bearing
There may be many parts to remove to replace your wheel bearing and often you will require specialist equipment such as a press and suitable sleeves to fit the bearing outer race into the hub assembly.
